I’ve had enough of my bosses choice of music, there are only so many times you can listen to the Baywatch theme tune… and don’t get me started on Goldie Looking Chain. So, at the weekend, I invested in a pair of head phones and I now listen to Internet radio all day. My station of choice… Egg Radio
There are no dj’s (at least none I have heard) and they just play music all day. The music is a very eclectic mix - but it’s all good. From their about page
If you listened to “alternative” music when there really was such a thing, then you’ve come to the right place. The Cure, Morrissey, The B-52s, They Might Be Giants, Dinosaur Jr, XTC and Depeche Mode were bands that the weird kids listened to. Were you a weird kid?
So were we.
But just because we know good music doesn’t mean have to be locked into a teeny-tiny alternative playlist. We’re smart. We know that good music occurs in all kinds of formats.
We’ve mixed great classic alternative music with modern rock, ska, mainstream rock and few surprises to create a station that is the perfect soundtrack to a day of work in the office, or a party at your Soho apartment.
The only downside is the lack of UK music - a lot of it is slanted towards the US, and there are a lot of good alternative UK groups out there. For that I would recommend XFM, they’re a London based commercial radio station but they have on-line and digital versions as well. I’ve been listening to them for years and can’t recommend them enough.
That said so far I’m loving Egg Radio and for now it’s my radio station of choice.
