Star Wars Episode III : Revenge of the Sith- Review

I suspect there are going to be quite a few Star Wars reviews over the next few days so I'll make this quick.

I like Star Wars Episode III : Revenge of the Sith!

The script was up to Georges usual standard, that is to say, incredibly cheesy; but you don't watch a Star Wars movie if you want to be intellectually stimulated or wowed by Oscar worthy acting. Star Wars is a Saturday afternoon popcorn movie, and looked at like that it's a hugely enjoyable piece of cinema.

The fight scenes are ridiculously fast and there are plenty of them. They are interspersed with 'emotional' scenes which could quite easily have been reduced, but they don't get in the way of the kick ass combat.

There were a few things I wasn't sure about - the Wookies were pointless and probably just there to please fans. The foxy blue Jedi who works (worked?) at ILM (Industrial Light and Magic - Lucas's own special effects company) was only in the film for about 10 seconds (twice the screen time she got in Episode II). Yoda's voice seemed different as well, not sure if that was on purpose or if it was just me.

In my mind the positives far outweigh the negatives. The start of the film is classic Star Wars, and the fight with Count Dooku shows the tone of things to come. Anakins motivation is a bit dodgy but we all knew he had to turn 'evil' eventually. Lucas touted this film as being the darkest of the series and he wasn't wrong. The second half of the film is the best bit with the final transformation from human Vader to suited Vader being particularly evil.

All in all I'm very happy - now I've got to wait until the DVD comes out so I can watch all 6 back to back :D

  • I just wish they had made it more intense, and more like a true fantasy series. Haydens acting was crappy. But the special effects were really good looking.

PS: Your template is awesome. Whoever made it is a genius.
PPS: I am not just saying that because I want something :)

Thanks for the compliments :) I made everything on the site myself. I'm intending to make some free templates for other people to use but need some free time to make them in.

  • I just went this evening to see it for the 5th time. It is true Lucas style, your right not Oscar worthy. For me it brings back a lot of memories from 1977 when me and my friends went to see Star Wars over and over again. Now, I have my kids with me to go and see this one. The first 2 episodes just didn't hit me right. But now that I have seen this episode (Revenge of the Sith) I am looking back at Episode 2 to see Senator Palpatine telling Anakin how powerful he could be. This movie for me is right on.
