The reason people visit Binary Moon
May 24, 2005 | David Hasselhoff, General
BinaryMoon.co.uk has been around for years, but it’s only since I changed web host that I have been able to find out why people are visiting my site. My server logs now tell me what search engine queries people are using to find my site. Rather worryingly the main reason for people to visit my site is down to one, very small, insignificant post - this one.
That’s right. Most of my hits are down to David Hasselhoff fans… not video game players/ developers or web designers, fans of the Hoffmeister. Today’s David Hasselhoff search engine queries include the following:
- David Hasselhoff games
- spam Hasselhoff
- David Hasselhoff emails
- David Hasselhoff mp3
So, in order to totally screw up my search engine rankings, and to try and get a few more visitors, I thought I would Google some of the more popular Hasselhoff sites and link to them so that people can find what they want nice and quickly.
- David Hasselhoff - Master of Legends - By far the best Hasselhoff site on the web. My favourite bit is definitely the Ask David page
- David Hasselhoff Official Website - What more needs to be said?
- David’s Blog
- David Hasselhoffs profile - Courtesy of IMDB
- Everything you never wanted to know about the Legend that is - David Hasselhoff
- David Hasselhoff online - The number 1 David Hasselhoff fan site! Well… it’s the biggest one I could find
Just as an aside, my spell checker nearly had a fit when it saw all the Hasselhoffs in this post so David’s name is now stored in my computers dictionary - got to prepare for future posts about the Hoff.

I tried a similar thing on my own site. The number one query that leads to me is “atrophication”. Go ahead, google it. That’s me at number 1. I tried to correct the problem by writing another atrophication post but to no avail. The second post shows up on the second page of Google’s results, “Are you people crazy?” is the post title.
I don’t know what’s worse. Forever associated with Hasselhoff or forever associated with atrophication.

Thankfully I’m not the number 1 term for David Hasselhoff (number 2 for David Hasselhoff Spam though…). It’ll be interesting to see if this post changes things.
Congrats on the “atrophication” ranking

My aim is to get the number one ranking for “if else” just to screw beginner programmers…
Out of interest, I’m no2 for “Binary moon” and no1 for “binary moon redesign”:-)

That’s not fair
I guess I’m going to have to edit my post so that it has redesign in it somewhere
You’re number 2 for “if else” at the moment. Maybe if you do some programming related posts you’ll manage to get the top slot.

Ben I must say, I think you do great work! Not only do you work on gamedev and make some good stuff. You also build your own sites. That’s great. I was looking at your web code. I really liked that you coded it in xhtml, nice.
I’m working on building a new template for my website. The one I have up is only a temp one I made really fast. May I ask, if you know any good books to buy for webdev?
I am also going to buy Blitz3D. I asked the people over at Blitzbasic.com about blitzmax. It turns out that blitzmax is going to have a “new” 3d engine made for it. This new engine will have and I quote “both OpenGL and DirectX 9 support are planned and in progress, and we should support all the latest buzzwords, eg. real time shadows/projection, pixel/vertex 1shaders, etc.” From what they told me, the new engine will not be out to 6 - 9 months. When the new engine comes out for blitzmax. I am going to take a look at the program. Like you I love working on games. Again the new engine will be made for blitzmax, not blitz3D. From what I can tell, blitzmax is going to be the update to there blitz3D program.
Blitz3D will still be out there because it was made for low end computer systems. So if your going to make games for older computers. Then blitz3D is the app for you. For me I just can’t wait for blitzmax to get it’s new engine. ^-^

Rich - I studied digital art at University - that’s where I learnt basic web design and started making games. In terms of web standards (xhtml, css etc) I’m self taught via the internet.
I know all about Blitz Max and may well take a look when the 3d module is released. For now I’m happy with Blitz3d & Blitz+. I have a new game that is almost finished (an update to an old game) - I’m going to be posting about it this weekend I think.

Really! Wow that’s great can’t wait to try it out.
What is blitz+ if I may ask?

blitz+ = blitz plus, a 2d version of blitz that has built in gui system (http://blitzmax.com/Products/b...)

Thanks Ben,
I should have known lol. I know about BlitzPlus. I’m just not use to seeing it spelled like that.
