Inside the Download.com redesign

Download.com has recently been totally redesigned. As someone who has a number of games on their site I find the redesign very interesting. I found out about the redesign a couple of weeks ago, and a few days ago the Weekly Standards, posted an inside view of the redesign.

Visually the new design is rather nice, unfortunately it now takes you more clicks to get to the games listings, which isn’t so good (for developers at least). The huge page dimensions, and ridiculous file size (the homepage is 300k+) is going to put off a few people, although I suspect their core audience are on broadband with reasonable systems so it shouldn’t be a huge problem.
