Macromedia have released a short video that shows the ‘development’ of Flash 8, with a short look at the history of the product thrown in for good measure. A few interesting bits in there such as the vast amount of bugs they had to fix, and the fact that they work insane hours putting even the hardest of the hardcore game development companies (EA?) to shame.
Warning : There is a lot of typically American whooping and cheering to put up with - you wouldn’t get that in the UK, we would just sit down with a nice cup of tea and a fruity bun and, if we were feeling particularly happy, maybe shake hands.

The flash games competitions seem to be everywhere this year - except this isn’t a game competition. Scion (owned by Toyota) has started a competition to win a Scion car of your choice.
All you have to do is create a ‘thing’ (whatever you want) that makes use of their media to promote their cars and the car is yours. There are a few limitations, it has to be under 10 meg and shorter than 2minutes, but in flash terms those limitations don’t mean an awful lot.
You can get more information at the official competition website

I haven’t done any David Hasselhoff posts in a while but I couldn’t pass up on this one
Ice-T is to produce David Hasselhoff’s first hip-hop album.
The pair are neighbours in Los Angeles and are said to have struck up a close friendship.
Hasselhoff has had some success as a singer, releasing seven albums. He’s also said to be very popular in Germany.
The Hoff doing Hip Hop - this is going to be interesting…

A couple of months ago, shortly after I was passed a book baton, I was walking home from work when I passed a book shop. I had finished the book I was reading that morning and needed something to read so in I went. As normal the Sci-Fi/ Fantasy section beckoned and what did I find? One of the books mentioned by the person who passed me the baton, A Game of Thrones (written by George RR Martin). I’m always open to trying new authors so I bought it and have been engrossed ever since.
The book is classic epic fantasy with a huge cast of characters, murder, intrigue, massive battles and all the usual guff. But, unlike this blog, it is written so well that you can’t help but keep reading. After a slow(ish) start, where all of the lead characters are introduced, A Game of Thrones picks …

Checked my gmail this morning to find I have been given a wordpress.com invite. For those who don’t know wordpress.com is a new hosted blogging system - ideal for those who don’t have the technical know how to set up a blog on their own site. When I signed up for updates site no-one knew what the service was (except for possibly the developers), and now that I know I’m not particularly interested.
Since I have Binary Moon I don’t need another blog so I’m going to give away my invite. All you have to do to get it is post a comment on this post explaining why I should pick you and what you will do with the blog. The best (funniest/ most unusual) entry will get the ticket. Make sure you use a proper email address as that’s where I’ll send the invite.
A rather enterprising uk student has created a website to help him pay his student fees - the Million Dollar Homepage
The idea is simple. The homepage constists of an image that has a million pixels. You can buy the pixels for a dollar each and they are sold in blocks of 100. You can then colour and link your block(s) of pixels to any website you like.
Maybe I could use this to advertise Binary Sun..? If you’re interested I would suggest getting in there before the Golden Palace Casino (who buy all sort of rubbish off ebay) come along and buy all the remaining space.
