Bubble Blitz Review

September 21, 2005 | Video Games

WooHoo - the first review of Bubble Blitz is in and it’s really good. I wasn’t expecting reviewers to actually say the game is good because of the unoriginality so it’s nice to get an email about something like this when I get into work.

I’ve submitted the game to a few other games review sites so hopefully there will be some more Bubble Blitz reviews in the not too distant future.

More Nintendo Revolution controller information

September 18, 2005 | Video Games

There has been a lot of talk about video gaming since my post about the Nintendo Revolution controller. Kotaku has a pretty good round up of all the articles that are spread around the net.

The most interesting thing though, is that apparently the new controller will have some sort of cradle. I was under the impression that the expansion port at the bottom would just be for extras such as the analogue stick already shown, but now people are doing mock-ups of how the cradle will look - making the cradle the more traditional controller I mentioned previously. If they were to do something like this there is no way the Revolution will fail, standard games can be played as normal (EA will be happy) AND you will get the ‘revolutionary’ content from Nintendo.

I’m pretty sure the cradle will look nothing like this, partly because of the …

Nintendo Revolution(ary) controller revealed

September 16, 2005 | Video Games

The new controller for the Nintendo Revolution has been revealed

What can I say - wow - it’s certainly different. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it, but I’ll definitely be getting one! Since it’s not obvious from a static image the new controller uses a couple of sensors on the tv to track it’s position in 3d space, meaning you can wave it around to control… well… whatever the game developers can think of! The demo’s mentioned on the ign page show a few of the possibilities - tennis, fishing, sword fighting, conducting music, baseball there is stacks of potential. With the analogue stick and all the buttons that are spread around the place traditional games are also possible.

I’m fairly confident there will be third party controllers released that are more ‘traditional’ but it’s definitely a step forward, and if it brings gaming to a …

Game Developement Diary - Introduction

September 15, 2005 | Dev Diary #1, Development Diary

Something I have wanted to do for a long time is create a development diary whilst making a video game. And when I say a diary I mean something public, like a blog, where people can post comments during the development so that, hopefully, the game will turn out much better.

Now that I have a blog, and I have an idea for a game, I have decided to give the development diary a go. I haven’t got a clue how interesting it will be for people to read but I’m going to try anyway.

It will start with a design document, something that is new to me. Before this I have always ‘freestyled’ my game development - everything has been made up as I go along. I figure if I’m gong to do everything publicly I should try and do it the proper way so the first thing is some sort …

Tomatoes are Evil

September 12, 2005 | Links

As a long time tomato hater I thought I should help spread the truth about the plague that is slowly devouring our world.

Tomatoes are well and truly evil

A web site dedicated to the percentage of the Earth’s population who DON’T LIKE TOMATOES.

We are not talking about a mild dislike or a medical allergy; but the realisation that this fruit is the SPAWN OF SATAN.

‘We Love Katamari’ European Release confirmed

September 9, 2005 | Video Games

Katamari Damacy sounded like a great game, unfortunately I’ll never know as it wasn’t released in the UK. However the sequel, We Love Katamari, is going to be released over here.

EA (aaarrggh) have picked up the game and will be releasing it to the PAL territories including Englandf
