Now that I have a rough game design worked out I need to start figuring out what features will be included in the game.
The feature should be thought of as a baseline to work towards. New things may be added, and items may be changed, but in general this is the guide to which the game will be made.
General Features
First things first - the general features. These are the things that will decide the programming language and the recommended specification computer for playing the game.
- 24 levels
- 2 Game modes, Story and Arcade
- Basic physics system – everything affects everything else, explosions move nearby objects, bullets force pushes objects, player bumps into and moves objects.
- 3D graphics
- 32-bit color
I must admit I already know what I will be using to program the game. I have used Blitz3d for all of my sale games so far and I will continue to use it …
1up.com have just had a Shadow of the Collosus week, showing off some various things to do with the game in the run up to it’s release later this year (Q1 2006 in the UK).
Sights & Sounds of Shadow
The art and music of Shadow of the Colossus.
Exclusive Screenshots
There is also a viral video doing the rounds for Shadow; an interesting idea for sure. This is one game I’m really looking forward too.

Before I continue I’m going to give some warning for those who still haven’t read the Harry Potter books. If, like me, you like to be surprised when you read something new - leave now
Snape is an enigma. What is he doing? From the very first book it has been made incredibly clear that two things are true. Firstly Snape hates Harry as much as anyone can hate; and secondly, Dumbledore trusts Snape implicitly. So when, at the end of the sixth book, Snape kills Dumbledore and runs from the chance to do the same thing to Harry everything we thought we knew got flipped on it’s head.
Is Snape Good or Evil?
The question everyone is wondering. Is Snape really evil? After all he did kill Dumbledore, was Dumbledores death an elaborate hoax, or did Snape plot with Dumbledore to …

For a site that’s called Coding 4 Fun this site couldn’t be less enjoyable.
Microsoft are trying to get people to start programming at an earlier age, which I think is a great idea, but making the site this dry and academic looking just sucks all the fun out of the subject. The topics they are talking about, game developement, image editing, even iTunes addons, are perfect subject matter for getting people interested. They’re even offering a free beta of Visual Studio Express which I’m guessing is a lite version of Visual Studio, Microsofts flagship development application.
I think I’ll give Visual Studio Express a go, I haven’t used a Microsoft programming language since I studied Visual Basic at school about 8 years ago, it’ll be interesting to see how things have changed.

Sculptures created with water and other liquids - incredibly clever and some really nice images created.
Liquid Sculpture is the process of creating shapes by dropping and splashing water, or other liquids. These sculptures are then photographed, since they last only a few thousandths of a second. Creating and capturing these engaging forms requires careful manipulation of the materials and precise control of the lighting and timing.
I love video games, and enjoy laughing at David Hasselhoff. The David Hasselhoff Knight Rider Season 2 game is probably the worst best film based advergame ever.
