Prince of Persia - Two Thrones

January 8, 2006 | Video Games

I’m a huge fan of Prince of Persia, Sands of Time. It was a visual feast using glowing pastels colours to bring the magic of an Arabian adventure to life. There was a story that was told mainly through the gameplay and, for once, it was a story that didn’t suck (something Ubi Soft seem quite good at). The gameplay, with the possible exception of the combat, was perfect. You, as the Prince from the title, have to traverse a series of rooms/ environments. If it was set in a normal building this would be easy, walk across the room and open the door, but in Persia they use more than just stairs to get around. You had to climb, and swing, and jump, and (rather impressively) run on walls to get to your target. Last section in particular was stunning, climbing up the outside of a castle to …

Million Dollar homepage completed!

January 3, 2006 | Links

I first mentioned the a few months ago, and since then it’s been filled up with all pixels sold… nearly.

The last 1000 pixels have been put up for auction on Ebay. At the time of writing the last 1000 pixels ($1000 worth) are going for $21,500.

Hmmm… I don’t like people advertising their site on mine. If you leave a comment advertising your milliondollarhomepage style site you will have to pay $20 for the comment to show up. Considering how much you could make from your site this is a very small amount. I doubt anyone will take me up on the offer though.

King Kong - Woahh

| Movies

Well, I played the game, and now I’ve seen the film.

I must admit when I found out Peter Jackson was following up the Lord of the Rings movies with King Kong I was more than a little disappointed. I’ve always thought of the original film as rather daft so have never watched it and I felt this would be more of the same. When I heard Andy Serkis, fresh from Gollum, was going to be playing another cg character I was even more surprised. How was a normal bloke going to play a 25 foot gorilla? I was all ready for him to say he would follow up King Kong with something like Godzilla, naturally Andy would be the cg monster… again.

However the closer the film got to release the more interesting it became. The trailer actually looked good, and finding out Michel Ancel was producing …

Happy New Year

January 1, 2006 | General

It’s actually been new year in the UK for 20 hours now. To tell the truth I’m not really one for celebrating things like this. The way I see it it’s just a day like any other, people just use it as an excuse to get drunk the night before.

However not wanting to sound like a totally miserable git, I thought I’d wish everyone a Happy New Year.

So Happy New Year to all of you :D

In the Past

Since so many others have written retrospectives I thought I’d have a quick run down of last year’s blogging on Binary Moon.

The most popular topics on the site, by far, have been ones with the Harry Potter Conspiracy Theory #1: RAB and Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince posts being the most popular (currently 539 and 520 comments respectively). I’m thinking about closing comments on …
