6 new wordpress themes from IfElse
Phu over at IfElse was very busy last week, he had a week of ‘themes a day‘ where he released a new wordpress theme every day.
My personal faves are Ambiru, with it’s cool clean single column layout, and Simpla, with it’s hyper minimalist approach.
Phu is really good at the clean minimal looking sites, so if you fancy a new theme it’d be well worth heading over there and giving ...
Life in the Googleplex
I work in quite a cool office, it’s not massive, but we have a nice big tele, with an xbox 360 under it, and a pool table. But then you see the Google Offices. Wow. Just Wow.
When I start my own business that’s what it will be like.

China bans movies which combining live action with cg
Wow – The Chinese government has banned any films that combine live action (real) characters with animated/ computer generated ones.
CGI and 2-D characters alongside human actors jeopardize “the broadcast order of homemade animation and mislead their development,” according to a report from the state-run Xinhua News Agency.
Order comes as the Chinese government attempts to increase local production of Mandarin-language toons and cut the amount of foreign animated programming appearing on Chinese television.

Lego Video Games
Ok, so it’s not part of the Lego Star Wars, or Lego Indiana Jones, but a few Lego and video games fanatics have recreated some classic video games with the colourful plastic building blocks.
You can see all the others on the New Gamer forum. The other games include Metal Gear Solid, Excitebike, and Bionic Commando.
I’m a big fan of Lego and have a new Lego website planned, I just ...
Transformers… robots in disguise?
Wow – how cool is this? A robot that turns from a car to a walking bot… for real. Brilliant.

Off with their Huds (video game huds that is)
An interesting article about in game interfaces and how they’re slowly dieing out.

HUD elements can be used to show, among many other things, how much health the player has, in which direction the player is heading, or where the player ranks in a race. This makes the HUD an invaluable ...
Yahoo! Design Patterns and UI Library
An extra for my ‘handy links’ section.
Yahoo! have released a bunch of developer related tools for adding interactivity to your site. I think it all looks quite interesting and, as someone who doesn’t like coding javascript, it looks very easy to use.
The Design Patterns appear to be a set of layout guidelines for developers at Yahoo!, but a lot of the rules they mention are worth following so I’ll recommend them anyway.
The User Interface Library is a set ...
I’m O.K – video game violence
In my last post I mentioned me having my own opinions on the whole “video games are murder simulators†debate. Well I thought I’d run through them briefly – and also point you to a new video game made specifically for this issue.
My ThoughtsIn my mind it’s simple. Violent people will seek out violent media. If video games weren’t around then movies and books, which have both suffered in a similar way, would be getting the same attention.
That’s not ...
