I reckon it would cost more in time and effort to do something like this than it would to just go out and buy a flat screen tv.
Unfortunately I don't have a link to the website of the person who did this - I'd love to find out if anyone knows where they are and why they chose to do this.

Well, if you did it yourself I'm guessing you could save money over a flatscreen. Besides, some people are just eccentric and crazy!
I think "eccentric and crazy" is the more likely option
