I first used Terragen when I was studying digital art at university. Terragen is a landscape generator that creates wonderful images, one of which used to be the header on this site.
After a couple of months of using it the developer stopped work because he got a job at a major movie special effects company (that I can’t remember the name of - it was someone like Digital Domain).
Anyway now that his contract is up he’s hard at work on Terragen 2 and today I saw some renders from a preview release of the new version.
The big new features (apart from looking stunning) are the vegetation and other scenery objects. It looks stunning.
All the gaming blogs I read this morning have announced the official name of the Nintendo Revolution (see above).
To me the name is a little suspect. It looks ok on paper, but saying it out loud just encourages toilet humour.
Introducing… Wii.
As in “we.”
While the code-name “Revolution” expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer.
Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else.
Wii will put people more in touch with their games… and each other. But you’re probably asking: What does the name mean?
Wii sounds like “we,” which emphasises this console is for everyone.
Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.
Wii has a distinctive “ii” spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play.
And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to …
Over the last year and a bit Binary Moon has slowly evolved. Rather than redesign my site every few months I have chosen to update and improve as I go. Doing this I have added a few little features that I think are quite cool, so thought I would share my code in case you find it handy as well.
You have left a comment…
This ones easy. When people leave comments you want to show them a small message letting them know the comment is in moderation so that they don’t repost. All you have to do is, in your comment loop, add something like this:
<?php if ( $comment->comment_approved == ‘0′ ) { ?>
<p class=”alert”>Thanks for your comment. It is currently in the moderation cue and will be visible for everyone to read as soon as I have verified it</p>
<?php } ?>
I must admit I find it …

Dressed up to look like a video game, Pirate Baby’s Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006, is a work of genius by the uber talented Paul Robertson.
I love pixel art (been meaning to do a post on it for a while now) and the animation in this is so smooth it’s just amazing. I would love to see a proper video game developed using this style of art and over the top action.
Before watching you should be told there is an awful lot of over the top violence, although it’s very cartoony and so beyond reality that it shouldn’t bother you.
Be warned, the file is a whopping 100+ Megabytes, but it’s well worth a watch and the download is pretty quick.
You can grab the video from the actual post on Pauls site. I used the second link and it worked nice and fast.
Tetris - using the lights in a tower block. Looks like great fun.

April 23, 2006 | Regulus
A small update with a few new features. The reason for this post, rather than updating the last post, is that I now consider Regulus complete. Barring any show stopping bugs there will be no new updates to Regulus, it’s time to more on.
The change log since the last release is (this includes the changes for version 2.1.1 which went out silently) …
- fixed widgets unregister bug
- fixed search box for sites in sub folders (could have sworn I had done this already)
- added the ability to hide the blog title and description. Useful for people who use custom header images
- added type attribute to style tag (for validation)
- added edit post link underneath the title for logged in users (as with version 2.0)
- changed code and pre tags to use monospaced fonts and add a couple of extra styled doohickies
- fixed minor validation error(s)
- fixed sidebar css issue
- added back admin panel for all sidebars (including …
