Bush to hold talks with Kazakhstani president over Borat

September 14, 2006 | Links

The Daily Mail are reporting that the Kazakhstani president is going to be talking to George W about the soon to be released movie about Borat - made famous by Sacha Baron Cohen.

The plot outline (from imdb)

Kazakhstani TV talking head Borat (Cohen) is dispatched to the United States to report on the greatest country in the world. With a documentary crew in tow, Borat becomes more interested in locating and marrying Pamela Anderson.

The president of Kazakhstan is concerned about Sacha’s portrayal of the country and as such is going to be doing a number of educational promotions to teach people about the ‘true’ Kazakhstan.

Generate xml Sitemaps for static sites

September 13, 2006 | Links

I have xml sitemaps generated (for use with Google Sitemaps) for Binary Moon and Binary Joy via the wonderful sitemap plugin for wordpress. But until recently I haven’t had a sitemap for Binary Sun for two reasons -

  • It’s static so there is no way to update it myself
  • I’m too lazy to do it by hand
  • Thanks to Lifehacker (watch out for the ads) I now have a solution for my lack of xml sitemaps - xml-sitemaps.com

Free video games AND get free money…

    September 11, 2006 | Video Games

Big Fish Games is a games portal, they sell downloadable video games in fact they’re not dissimilar to Binary Sun - another very nice games website :)

Anyway Big Fish have now announced the ability to set up your own games site which I have done (as if I need ANOTHER site to run). You can choose your favourite games from their catalogue and promote them on your own games page. In return for doing this you get 2 free games and, some would say more importantly, you get commision for every sale that is generated via your mini portal.

I wouldn’t give up your day job just yet, you’re unlikely to make a living from this, but it’s an interesting way to market games. Basically making others (erm… you and I) do the work for them. The thing is - it works! Look at me, …

    Movie Roundup - August 06

    September 7, 2006 | Movies

    The Transporter 2

Shorter than the first movie, the Transporter 2 has is a very simple movie, and seems to have been made simply to look good. The bad guys all seemed a bit old but Jason Statham was suitably cool looking in the fights. Certainly one of the better martial artists in movies… at least of ones who aren’t Asian. Highly enjoyable and, unlike a lot of films, could have quite easily been 15 - 20 longer.

    Underworld Evolution

Not a patch on the original and it appears to know it, since there is a good ten minutes of footage from the first film that’s reused. The story just didn’t sit right with me - should have been straight to dvd… in fact was it even released at the cinema?

    Lucky Number Slevin

My favorite of the month. A thriller …

    Videogame Guys… erm… Gals

Some beautiful art inspired by video games. Turning famous male characters into Anime style… um… female ones. An usual choice of subject but, at the same time, incredibly cool looking. I never thought I would see Mario and Luigi as a pair of ladies - but it does seem to work. My personal fave is the MegaManGirl one.

Banksy strikes again - Paris Hilton is the victim

    | Links

Banksy - a famous British artist - targeted Paris Hilton in his latest piece of work.

    From the bbc website…

Hundreds of Paris Hilton albums have been tampered with in the latest stunt by “guerrilla artist” Banksy.

Banksy has replaced Hilton’s CD with his own remixes and given them titles such as Why am I Famous?, What Have I Done? and What Am I For?

He has also changed pictures of her on the CD sleeve to show the US socialite topless and with a dog’s head.

There is even a YouTube video of the operation in progress.

You can see more of the elusive Banksies work on his website. I particularly like his paintings where he takes classic landscapes and adds in modern day objects - such as this one, and this one.
