WPZipper.com is in the process of going through a relaunch. The site is a method for getting a download of the latest version of Wordpress along with plugin and themes all wrapped up in a nice zip file.
The service looks quite cool but I have a few suggestions for future improvements.
Firstly I would work out what the most popular combinations are eg Wordpress, a couple of themes (Regulus naturally
), and important plugins (wp-backup, Akismet, Recent Comments, Ultimate Tag Warrior etc) and then offer them for download or as starting points.
Secondly some method for sharing packages that you would recommend. This would be good for web developers who want to say to their clients, I would recommend this version of Wordpress with these plugins.
Finally some sort of directory/ tag based structure for searching for themes and plugins. I’m sure the feature is there internally (for the search …

More creative goodness today. This time paper toys - custom ones.
By day Matt Hawkins is a cartoonist at night, he turns into a paper toy designer, designing and creating custom paper toys, and I think they’re great.
The toys ave a twisted Ren and Stimpy style look to them, with lots of pimples and warts, and deformed stylings. They also have the full plans available so that you can download and create them for yourself. Some even move…

Asus have recently announced the Eee pc. I’m really liking the look of this one. I recently bought a laptop computer but it’s quite large big and carrying it around isn’t too fun so something smaller, that I can use anywhere in the house and when I go on holiday/ travelling, would be absolutely great.
It only has a 7 inch screen, and the disk drives start at 4 gig (very small) but considering the price this isn’t an issue for me - It’s soooo cheap. Apparently prices start at $200 (so likely £200), which is well within my range for a low end pc for web browsing & blogging - and maybe a bit of web development.
The battery life is a little short, and it’s a shame there’s no dvd drive, but I guess improving those would add to the weight and the cost. I have already read rumors of …
An interesting article about the Opera browser for the Nintendo Wii has been posted over at Opera.com. It talks about how the browser works and a few fixes/ solutions for Wii compatibility for your own site.
This interests me at the moment as I am considering adding a Wii mode to Binary Moon
Check it out at the Opera Developer center.

There is a new Wordpress theming competition for all you css gurus and it sounds quite interesting. I am certainly interested in giving it a go myself.
The current prizes are…
- 1st prize: US$500
- 2nd prize: US$300
- 3rd prize: US$200
These prizes may increase based upon how much interest there is in prize sponsorship. There are also other prizes such as books and web hosting that are being donated by various bloggers around the interweb. You can read the full details on the competition website.
And what do you have to do for the money? All that’s required is for you to design a skin for the sandbox theme. You don’t need to do any php or html, it’s entirely css and image based.
As I said above. I am rather interested in this. I have very little free time these days but this sounds interesting, and the chance to win $500 would be …
