I am in the process of working out a redesign for my site. The redesign will focus on building more of a community feel, and making the site more personal - in short focusing on what the you want rather than what I want. Some of the things I plan to add include recent comments, popular posts (based upon comments), and … a link list.
I have already started creating my link list, filling out the wordpress blog roll, but I want more links so thought I’d start a small competition to try and find some new and interesting websites to both read and link to.
The competition
To get your link on my (page rank 7) site you should write a short article on your blog (around 100-200 words) and link it to an article on my site (any article from the archives).
Once you’ve written your article just come back to …
I was actually inspired to write this post because of a 9rules note I started recently. David Airey beat me to the punch with his own version and credit should go to ayushsaran for starting the whole thing but here is mine at last.
This one isn’t so much a tip or trick as a nicety. It’s cool to have the wordpress login page branded up as your own. This is more significant for multi author blogs, or sites you have set up for clients.
The process is very simple. Create two images (login-bkg-tile.gif and login-bkg-bottom.gif) and then stick them in the wp-admin/images/ folder from your wordpress installation. With a bit of effort you can create something nice.
The problem with this is two fold, firstly how do you create the images? Secondly what happens when you upgrade?
How do you create the images?
This isn’t overly challenging. All you …

Lorelle has posted about Wordcamp and the future of Wordpress and there are a few things that caught me eye.
- While little has been done to improve installation, upgrades, and WordPress Plugin updates, those are a priority for the WordPress development team.
Excellent. I’d love some sort of built in upgrade system. Upgrading Wordpress is generally quite easy but having 3 sites that use it means that the updates take longer and longer.
- A new cache proxy called WPCP is coming which will speed up caching. Benchmark tests so far are amazing and will definitely speed up your WordPress blog.
Anything that speeds up wordpress and reduces server load is good in my opinion.
- The ability for handling storage will be improving, especially for storing images, videos, and other multi-media on-site and off-site.
Good to hear. I have started using the upload feature of Wordpress quite a bit so more facilities for managing the …
Well, it took me all day but I managed it. I had to get some sleep before writing this but here I am letting you know what I think.
Story
The story was unusual - it was very different to the first 6 in that Hogwarts, and a lot of the characters, were only mentioned briefly. In fact it was all a bit of a mystery as Harry, Ron and Hermione all rush around trying to solve the mystery of the Horcruxes and the titular Deathly Hallows.
It all starts off at a terrifying pace, there’s an evil meeting, and then Harry leaves the Dursleys for the final time. There are a number of deaths in the first few chapters, at least a couple of which will surprise (they surprised me at least). After the third chapter things slow down for a while as we are reintroduced to some of the characters and …

French ratatouille may be served as a meal on its own (accompanied by rice, potatoes, or simple French bread), or as a side dish. Tomatoes are a key ingredient, with garlic, onions, zucchini (courgettes), eggplant (aubergine), bell peppers (capsicum), some herbes de Provence, and sometimes basil. All the ingredients are sautéed in olive oil.
Ratatouille is sometimes used as a filling for savoury crepes.
As well as a tasty food stuff, Ratatouille is a delicious combination of all the treats Pixar can bring to the table. With every film they use all their knowledge and skill to make a wonderful story. It’s becoming a cliche now, someone says it with the release of every film, but Pixar are, first and foremost, story tellers. They use their fantastic technical knowledge to bring to life lovely, beautifully realised characters but the focus is always the story.
Ratatouille has an unusual premise …

This weekend just gone I went to see Damien Rice at the Brighton Dome. The trip was actually a birthday present from my girlfriend and, my birthday being in April, meant I had plenty of time to look forward to it.
My musical tastes are very varied. I tend towards rock music but like anything powerful, I’m also a closet fan of stage shows and musicals. I love theatrical style music, so Damien Rice was a perfect fit. The fact I have 3 of his albums helps (O, 9, and B Sides). Jo likes him too.
Jo had booked us seats slap bang in the middle so we to a wonderful view (which you can’t really tell from the photo… but the colours fit the site nicely
). The stalls downstairs were unreserved and most people had to stand so I’m really glad we got the seats we did. …
