Links competition now closed

August 16, 2007 | General

My recent links competition is now closed to entries. I’m going to spend a couple of days going through the websites entered and will post the winners soon (probably Monday or Tuesday). I received more entries than I had expected and there are some really nice sites in there - the entries are listed below.

Good luck everybody.

BlogLouder launched

| Links

I don’t normally talk about this sort of thing on here, but I have recently been talking to Adnan over at Blogtrepreneur and yesterday he launched a new blog consulting service, BlogLouder.

As a test Adnan gave me a demo of the service he is offering, critiquing Binary Moon. I was a touch sceptical at first but Adnans advice was simple, practical and honest - he covered all the basics and left me with things to think about, which is all i could ask for.

Adnan is currently running a competition to get a free blog consultation so if you’re interested you should head over to Blogtrepreneur and have a read.

I’ve been interviewed

August 12, 2007 | Links

Adnan from Blogtrepeneur interviewed me this evening, asking questions about working at Miniclip and the websites I run. I wonder if he’s just sucking up to me as my link competition is coming to a close but (ha haa - I’m joking Adnan ;) ), in the unlikely event you have any interest in me, you can read the full thing over on his site.

Sega Rally Preview

| Video Games

I was recently invited to Segas England Headquarters in London to preview the new Sega Rally game. In return all I had to do was write a preview on my gaming site Binary Joy - and that’s exactly what I’ve done.

Anyone who has been to an arcade in the last 12 years must have seen a pair of SEGA Rally cabinets sitting there… even today they’re a surprisingly common site. Apparently Sega Rally is Sega’s highest earning arcade machine in Europe - so there are clearly a lot of fans out there to be pleased.

The game itself was very cool, and I had a great time. I think Sega have a bit of a hit on their hands!

Harry Potter - unanswered questions answered

| Harry Potter

The book has been out a couple of weeks now and, based upon the comments I’ve read there are still some questions people want answered. Therefore I have collected together my thoughts, along with those of others (thanks to the commenters on the previous posts).

I should point out that this post contains plenty of spoilers so if you haven’t read the book yet you should turn away now!

As an aside, for those who haven’t seen it, there is also a transcript of an interview available where JK goes over the post Deathly Hallows stuff. She talks about the lead characters and what they do with their lives, clearing up a lot of the issues people had with the epilogue. Personally I think it would have been nice if more of this was mentioned in the book itself.

Ripper - Buffy “sequel” in production

August 4, 2007 | Links, General

Oh so long I have been waiting for this news. Back in the day (about 4 or 5 years ago now) I was a massive Buffy the Vampire slayer fan. It was a couple of series before I started watching it but once I got in I was hooked. I am pretty well versed in Buffy lore and have been hearing rumours about the spin off - Ripper - for quite some time now.

For those not “in the know” Ripper is the nickname of Anthony Stewart Heads character, Rupert Giles (Anthony is possibly better known as the Nescafe man, or the Prime Minister from Little Britain).

Anyway the spin off was meant to be in the same universe as Buffy - only moved to England, Giles home country. It was supposed to follow Giles as he battles ghosts and the paranormal (which in the Buffyverse are real), with the possibility …
