Ever fancied taking photographs from space? One of my friends was recently telling me about how he was going to take photos with a camera suspended from a kite... but this takes things to a whole other level.
The basic recipe is:
- 1 x small helium weather balloon
- 1 x digital camera with interval shots
- 1 x small parachute, and a GPS tracker
And what do you get (after a whole bunch of attempts)? Something like this...

You can see even more photos over at the projects homepage. I'm envious - the photos look great - personally I rather like a lot of the pictures as the balloon is passing through the outer parts of the atmosphere.

That's really cool, but aren't there some regulations against randomly flying objects at such altitudes?
I stumbled across this recently - absolutely mazing photos.
Tony - I must admit I had wondered about that too, not sure what nearby aircraft would have thought of it.
