Anyone else see this on Sundays episode of Top Gear. We got to talking about it in the office today so I thought I would look it up and post it here. Basically Jeremy Clarkson tries out the 1964 Peel P50. It’s not the type of high end sports car they normally feature but he seems to love it… and I laughed all the way through the entire thing. In fact watching it again just now set me off all over again.
I’ve said it before and no doubt will say it again, but I am not into cars. They serve a purpose and that’s it, but Top Gear never fails to amuse my childish sensibilities.
Went to see Run, Fat boy, Run at the cinema the other day. It was really good.
I’ve become a bit of a fan of Simon Pegg, Hot Fuzz being one of the big reasons why. Somehow he has made being a geek quite cool, and that can only be a good thing. However if you go into Run Fatboy Run expecting something like Hot Fuzz or Shaun of the Dead then you are likely to be rather disappointed.
Run, Fat boy, Run is a much straighter comedy than either of those, the jokes are more traditional and the story is almost normal, realistic even. That said there are still some classic Simon Pegg moments (the blister) and a handful of cameos from English comedians (”Can you give me something in the shape of a fish?”).
The story is reasonably generic, a man loves a lady but can’t commit - ditching …
Shortly before we went to see Damien Rice my girlfriend bought tickets for us to go and see Athlete at the Norwich UEA LCR (University of East Anglia LCR… don’t know what the last bit means). Last night it was finally time to go see them, and we had a great time.
It was actually part of the UK tour for their new album, Beyond the Neighbourhood and naturally I hadn’t listened to it, so I spent the whole day with it playing on a loop. Jo got home from work at 6 and we had a crazy rush to eat and get dressed so we could get there in time for the doors opening… and it’s a good job we did. The venue was, what some would call cosy. Thankfully getting there early meant we were able to get a pretty decent view.

Someone has too much time on his hands…
Joshua Budich is a Star Wars fan and part time pixel artist. He has collected loads of the Star Wars figures and, to show his joy, has turned them all into tiny little pixel portraits.
Technically the art is a little lacking but, rather impressively, the characters are all recognisable (assuming you know the characters to start with).
He’s even turned it into a small interactive flash thing to categorise the different characters into the figure series/ movie/ collection and year.
Awesome - check it out.
The similarities with Johnny 5 are obvious but I don’t care - and I always loved that film (Short Circuit) anyway.
I also think that Pixar are one of the best film studios in the world. Their movies have a sense of heart and feeling that others can’t touch.
More info on Wall-E is available at IMDB.
I’ve seen a few of these before but never one as long and complex as this. I can’t imagine the patience it must have taken to put it all together.
