Ben’s Brother and Alice McLaughlin

October 3, 2007 | Entertainment

I’ve been rather busy with another project recently (more on that soon) so I didn’t get a chance to post this in a timely manner. What happenend is a couple of weeks ago I went to see Ben’s Brother at the Norwich Arts Centre. It was actually the groups last gig from their first headlining tour.

They’re a relatively new group - although that’s not entirely fair as they’ve been around for a while - it’s just that they have only recently gotten their big break. The front man - the titular Ben’s Brother (who’s actually called Jamie) - has been writing and performing for years, including penning songs for Will Young, and Natalie Imbruglia.

Flash 10 - first info

October 2, 2007 | Links

The first info about the new Flash player (version 10) was released at the Adobe Max event yesterday. The features they displayed are right to left text (and other text enhancements), basic 3d abilities, and programmable effects (not dissimilar to shaders in 3d engines).

Aral Balkan (flash developer and amateur camera man) filmed the event and uploaded it to Youtube so you can see the demos for yourself.

The 3d is quite basic, but will surely help the many 3d engines that are in development at the moment.

The programmable effects will also be helpful and could open up some interesting gaming possibilities in the same way that effects did when they were first released in Flash 8.
