District 9 trailer – new movie from Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp

District 9 is an upcoming science fiction movie produced by Peter Jackson and directed by Neill Blomkamp. Originally Jackson and Blomkamp - who were originally paired for the movie adaptation of the HALO video game series. HALO has been put on hold for the time being but it looks like District 9 will tide me over nicely. The film is set for an August 14, 2009 release date.

District 9 is based on Alive in Joburg (included below), a short film which Neill Blomkamp was very much involved in. Because of Alive in Joburg there were a lot of people looking forward to the HALO movie - hoping it would be the first video game adaptation to not suck (with the possible exception of the first Mortal Kombat movie).
