The Boat That Rocked – iTunes Movie Review
The Boat That Rocked is Richard Curtis (4 Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill) latest film - and it's so much better than I had imagined it would be.
I'm not sure why I'm surprised, Richard Curtis films are always funny and feel good, but the trailer for the film left me feeling cold. It looked like the movie focused on Rhys Ifans character, who seemed rather dislikeable, it also seemed to have a much more serious tone - ...
Frost/ Nixon – NBC Universal iTunes movie
Being under 30, English, and disinterested in both politics and history I wasn't sure what to make of Frost/ Nixon. It's a movie about a US president, Richard Nixon, who disgraced because of something called the Watergate scandal (yes, I've heard of THAT) retired, and was later interviewed by a relatively unknown English man called David Frost.
The only David Frost I know of is a nosey bloke who hosts ...
Duplicity : an iTunes movie review
As I mentioned on Twitter recently I have been sent an iPod Touch loaded with some movies to review. The films are by NBC Universal and the iPod is etched with their logo making a very cool gift to mark their entry into the iTunes store.
Another plus is the films I chose to review were also quite enjoyable so I don't have to sugar coat anything
It's rather nice being able to watch films again, I used to ...
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
I don't know if it's just because I have read books 5 and 6 the least, and not recently either, but I thought that Half Blood Prince was the best Harry Potter film so far. Admittedly my judgement may be clouded by the fact that I was at an exclusive screening at the London Imax, and the first 15 minutes of the film (including the awesome London fly through) were in eye popping 3D!
Harry Potter and the Half ...
Bolt
Disneys latest animated adventure, Bolt, was recently released in the UK. It's been a busy 6 months for me so I thought I'd take some time off and check it out. To be honest I wish I had more time to go to the cinema but it's hard finding films that both Jo and I want to see, but Bolt seemed like some light hearted fun that we could both enjoy.
Bolt ...
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a 3d animated cartoon, featuring all your favorite characters from the prequel trilogy, and some of your faves from the original trilogy.
I got to see Star Wars: The Clone Wars last weekend and quite enjoyed it. The film takes place during the Clone Wars, a period of unrest chronologically placed between the second and third prequel movie.
The film is a full blown 3d animated adventure ...
Wall-E
Wall-E is awesome - the best Pixar film yet... although I say that pretty much every time they release a new one. It tells the story of a lone robot, left to clear up the mess left behind on earth by an escaping human crowd. Like many robots Wall-E does not speak, at least not in the traditional sense of the word. What he does do is beep and whirl much like another R2-D2 from Star Wars - ...
The Golden Compass
I went to see The Golden Compass last week - the film of the book with the same name (although sometimes called Northern Lights). I mentioned the trailer before, and though tit looked great, but wasn't sure what to expect of the movie itself.
I read the book some time ago so remember the story in broad sweeps but don't remember the specifics - thankfully the film was laid out in a similar fashion. ...
