Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
I don’t know if it’s just because I have read books 5 and 6 the least, and not recently either, but I thought that Half Blood Prince was the best Harry Potter film so far. Admittedly my judgement may be clouded by the fact that I was at an exclusive screening at the London Imax, and the first 15 minutes of the film (including the awesome London fly through) were in eye popping 3D!

Bolt
Disneys latest animated adventure, Bolt, was recently released in the UK. It’s been a busy 6 months for me so I thought I’d take some time off and check it out. To be honest I wish I had more time to go to the cinema but it’s hard finding films that both Jo and I want to see, but Bolt seemed like some light hearted fun that we could both enjoy.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a 3d animated cartoon, featuring all your favorite characters from the prequel trilogy, and some of your faves from the original trilogy.
I got to see Star Wars: The Clone Wars last weekend and quite enjoyed it. The film takes place during the Clone Wars, a period of unrest chronologically placed between the second and third prequel movie.
The film is a full blown 3d animated adventure ...
Wall-E review
Wall-E is awesome – the best Pixar film yet… although I say that pretty much every time they release a new one. It tells the story of a lone robot, left to clear up the mess left behind on earth by an escaping human crowd. Like many robots Wall-E does not speak, at least not in the traditional sense of the word. What he does do is beep and whirl much like another R2-D2 from Star Wars – ...
The Golden Compass
I went to see The Golden Compass last week – the film of the book with the same name (although sometimes called Northern Lights). I mentioned the trailer before, and though tit looked great, but wasn’t sure what to expect of the movie itself.
I read the book some time ago so remember the story in broad sweeps but don’t remember the specifics – thankfully the film was laid out in a similar fashion. ...
Beowulf
When it comes to movies I’m a huge fan of fantasy and mythology.
When it comes to myths you can’t get any more classic than the epic poem, Beowulf.
When I found out that Beowulf was going to come to the Imax, in ‘proper’ 3d (glasses and all), I knew I had to go and see it.
Directed by Robert Zemeckis (Polar Express, and Back to the Future) and starring a proper Londoner – ...
Stardust
Stardust is a fantastic film about doing what is right and the quest for love (and the fact that you won’t always find love where you expect too).
The story is based upon a Neil Gaiman comic book and was turned into a movie by Jane Goldman (Jonathon Rosses better half). I went to see it with Jo recently and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
The film has a wonderful feeling to ...
Run, Fat boy, Run
Went to see Run, Fat boy, Run at the cinema the other day. It was really good.
I’ve become a bit of a fan of Simon Pegg, Hot Fuzz being one of the big reasons why. Somehow he has made being a geek quite cool, and that can only be a good thing. However if you go into Run Fatboy Run expecting something like Hot Fuzz or Shaun of the Dead then you are likely to be rather disappointed.
