Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Thumbnail : Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

I don't know if it's just because I have read books 5 and 6 the least, and not recently either, but I thought that Half Blood Prince was the best Harry Potter film so far. Admittedly my judgement may be clouded by the fact that I was at an exclusive screening at the London Imax, and the first 15 minutes of the film (including the awesome London fly through) were in eye popping 3D! Harry Potter and the Half Blood [...]

5 web business lessons to be learnt from Avenue Q

Last weekend I went to London to see 'West End Live' in Leicester Square and, somehow, ended up going to see Avenue Q. The trip to the theatre was totally unplanned, and when thinking about why I went to see it, I noticed a number of parallels with online business. Below are some of the things I took away from this realisation. Be unique You need to stand out from the crowd. Avenue Q did this in a variety of [...]

iPod Touch

Thumbnail : iPod Touch

Over the last couple of months I have been using an iPod Touch. It all started because a game developer contacted me asking if I would be interested in reviewing his iPod Touch/ iPhone games on Binary Joy. At the time I didn't have an iPod Touch but a friend did so we got to talking about it and it turned out he had an old Touch he no longer used (having got an iPhone) - so here I am [...]

Joss Whedons Dollhouse

Thumbnail : Joss Whedons Dollhouse

I think Joss Whedon is fantastic. Buffy, Firefly, and even Dr Horribles Sing Along Blog are all a lot of fun. Firefly in particular showed loads of potential so I was disappointed that it never even got to the end of its first season. Because of this I decided to get in on Dollhouse early. If enough people sing it's praises then maybe it will get an additional season or three. Dollhouse is actually really different to Joss's earlier shows. [...]

Bolt

Thumbnail : Bolt

Disneys latest animated adventure, Bolt, was recently released in the UK. It's been a busy 6 months for me so I thought I'd take some time off and check it out. To be honest I wish I had more time to go to the cinema but it's hard finding films that both Jo and I want to see, but Bolt seemed like some light hearted fun that we could both enjoy. Bolt is a dog - a "super" talented one. [...]

Top 17 – UK celebs on Twitter

Thumbnail : Top 17 – UK celebs on Twitter

There have been celebrities on Twitter (follow me here) for quite some time but over the last couple of weeks there has been a huge surge of them joining in the UK. I've seen Twitter mentioned on a number of tv shows, and heard it on a couple of radio stations. It's also been mentioned on some prominent UK news websites. Apologies in advance to people outside of the UK - I am pretty sure I'll mention a fair few [...]

Tales of Beedle the Bard – new from JK Rowling

It's been a while since I've mentioned anything remotely Harry Potter related and had almost forgotten about the new book until I noticed it had been released last week - The Tales of Beedle the Bard. The Tales of Beedle the Bard is the latest book from JK Rowling. It's actually a collection of short stories that are written in the world of Harry Potter - in fact it's the "real" stories that Hermione is given by Dumbledore in the [...]

6 reasons why Lego is the best toy ever!

Thumbnail : 6 reasons why Lego is the best toy ever!

I have recently been looking into Lego for a project I am working on, and have come to realise that I still really really like it. Despite being 28 Lego still has the same sense of fun it had when I was 5 and I got to thinking about why. Below are some of the reasons why I think Lego is such an awesome form of entertainment. 1. Appeals to young and old alike As I mentioned above, I still [...]

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Thumbnail : Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a 3d animated cartoon, featuring all your favorite characters from the prequel trilogy, and some of your faves from the original trilogy. I got to see Star Wars: The Clone Wars last weekend and quite enjoyed it. The film takes place during the Clone Wars, a period of unrest chronologically placed between the second and third prequel movie. The film is a full blown 3d animated adventure with lots of action and a couple [...]

Wall-E

Thumbnail : Wall-E

Wall-E is awesome - the best Pixar film yet... although I say that pretty much every time they release a new one. It tells the story of a lone robot, left to clear up the mess left behind on earth by an escaping human crowd. Like many robots Wall-E does not speak, at least not in the traditional sense of the word. What he does do is beep and whirl much like another R2-D2 from Star Wars - anyone who [...]

Ben and Jerry (and Jo)

Thumbnail : Ben and Jerry (and Jo)

Last weekend my girlfriend and I went to the Ben and Jerries Sundae festival (on Sunday no less). This is a small festival on Clapham Common in London, England. It's run by Ben and Jerries ice cream and has a variety of partners within, all promoting green things (renewable energy etc), and generally being nice and ethical - all things I believe quite strongly in. There was also a stage with live music and, best of all, as much free [...]

Harry Potter prequel

Waterstones (the UK bookstore) recently ran a promotion called "What's your story" where they got people to submit a postcard with a short story on it, and they will be turning the best into a limited edition book. In total they had 4522 entries, and some of those were from celebs - including JK Rowling. The postcard book is going to be made in a limited run but they have posted the celebrity cards on the What's your story website [...]
