Portal Papercraft
This is equal parts cute, cool, and awesome.
The latest game from Valve, Portal, involves a clever device that let's you create portals to travel from one place to another.
This awesome papercraft replicates the wonderful game. I love the simplicity (something I am a big fan of in general), the colours, the design - the lot.
Unlike most papercraft it's even something I could do myself.
Check out the original Portal, papercraft post on Blogspot.
Scientists, Tesla coils, and Super Mario
This is a major geek out but it combines science and video games. I have no idea how they did this buy I am incredibly impressed.
Thanks to Tranism from Electroplankton for the heads up.
His Dark Materials
In the trailers before Stardust we saw the trailer for the Golden Compass (known to Brits as Northern Lights), the (first?) movie of the first book from the 'His Dark Materials' trilogy by Philip Pullman.
I was already quite interested in the film, and finding out that Weta (think Lord of the Rings trilogy) are doing the special effects makes me even more so.
The comments on the ...
Top Gear – 1964 Peel P50
Anyone else see this on Sundays episode of Top Gear. We got to talking about it in the office today so I thought I would look it up and post it here. Basically Jeremy Clarkson tries out the 1964 Peel P50. It's not the type of high end sports car they normally feature but he seems to love it... and I laughed all the way through the entire thing. In fact watching it again just now set me off all ...
Star Wars pixelled
Someone has too much time on his hands...
Joshua Budich is a Star Wars fan and part time pixel artist. He has collected loads of the Star Wars figures and, to show his joy, has turned them all into tiny little pixel portraits.
Technically the art is a little lacking but, rather impressively, the characters are all recognisable (assuming you know the characters to start with).
He's even turned it into a small interactive flash thing to ...
Wall-E from Pixar
The similarities with Johnny 5 are obvious but I don't care - and I always loved that film (Short Circuit) anyway.
I also think that Pixar are one of the best film studios in the world. Their movies have a sense of heart and feeling that others can't touch.
More info on Wall-E is available at IMDB.
Incredible Machine
I've seen a few of these before but never one as long and complex as this. I can't imagine the patience it must have taken to put it all together.
Ratatouille out this week
In the UK Ratatouille is coming out this week (Friday 12th to be precise). I got to see a preview screening of it a couple of months ago and loved every moment (read my review here). I highly recommend everyone go and see it (and suspect I may go again).
One thing that has changed, and I can't decide if this is good or not, is that the voice of the restaurant critic has been ...
