Homebrew Space photography
Ever fancied taking photographs from space? One of my friends was recently telling me about how he was going to take photos with a camera suspended from a kite... but this takes things to a whole other level.
The basic recipe is:
1 x small helium weather balloon 1 x digital camera with interval shots 1 x small parachute, and a GPS trackerAnd what do you get (after a whole bunch of attempts)? Something like this...
and even this
Amazing Image resizing technology
A colleague at work pointed this out to me the other day. It's a new image manipulation technique that helps with resizing graphics, without losing detail.
It's technically phenomenal, and the results are stunning, if not 100% perfect (there are a few places on the beach photos where you can make out joins) however I don't think I will be using it myself. Watch the video to see what I mean.
A Lego production line building Lego cars
A Lego machine that makes Lego machines? Genius!
I loves me some Lego, and this production line that creates Lego cars is fabulous. I'm amazed that someone would spend the time creating Lego that builds Lego - and in this scale.
Note the way they chose the colour of the parts at the start of the clip. It's a little slow so you may want to fast forward occasionally, but ...
Bioshock art book released for free
Bioshock was released last week, and it's been getting great reviews. To go with the special edition release of the game they were designing an "art of" book, however the idea was scrapped - so the book has been released for free as an ebook.
But with a game as beautiful as BioShock, that just didn’t sit right with me. Because everyone should be able to experience the beauty of BioShock, see the concept art and visualize the evolution of building ...
BlogLouder launched
I don't normally talk about this sort of thing on here, but I have recently been talking to Adnan over at Blogtrepreneur and yesterday he launched a new blog consulting service, BlogLouder.
As a test Adnan gave me a demo of the service he is offering, critiquing Binary Moon. I was a touch sceptical at first but Adnans advice was simple, practical and honest - he covered all the basics and left me with things to ...
I’ve been interviewed
Adnan from Blogtrepeneur interviewed me this evening, asking questions about working at Miniclip and the websites I run. I wonder if he's just sucking up to me as my link competition is coming to a close but (ha haa - I'm joking Adnan ), in the unlikely event you have any interest in me, you can read the full thing over on his site.
Sega Rally Preview
I was recently invited to Segas England Headquarters in London to preview the new Sega Rally game. In return all I had to do was write a preview on my gaming site Binary Joy - and that's exactly what I've done.
Anyone who has been to an arcade in the last 12 years must have seen a pair of SEGA Rally cabinets sitting there… even today they’re a surprisingly common site. Apparently Sega Rally is Sega’s highest earning arcade machine ...
Ripper – Buffy “sequel” in production
Oh so long I have been waiting for this news. Back in the day (about 4 or 5 years ago now) I was a massive Buffy the Vampire slayer fan. It was a couple of series before I started watching it but once I got in I was hooked. I am pretty well versed in Buffy lore and have been hearing rumours about the spin off - Ripper - for quite some time now.
For those not "in the know" Ripper ...
