2010 – a videogaming year in review
An amusing article from the ever great Wired (I still love that design - despite it being three years old).
Anyway - the review is an ironic look at the possible state of video games in the future.
Sony and Nintendo continue their fight for the minds and backpacks of the nation's gamers by releasing ever-larger portable consoles. The Nintendo XL features six screens, a folding seat and a selection of overpriced candy bars, while the PlayStation Still Ostensibly Portable ...
Grow Ornament – Christmas Flash game
I've played all the Grow games and think they're great so thought I'd mention that the latest one, Grow Ornament, has been released. It's festive so get on over there and have a play.
This time there are only 6 objects in the puzzle which makes things a lot easier to work out. In fact this is the first one I have completed, on my own, without any help.
For those who haven't played a Grow game before I've listed the ...
Acclaim offers publishing rights to their back catalogue
Since Acclaim have now officially been announced bankrupt there is a bankruptcy auction to sell off all of the publishing rights to their games.
I'm not sure what the publishing rights entails, or how much money there is in them, but they all seem to be going pretty cheaply and there are a few cool games in there (Extreme G, Burnout, Smash TV)
Parallels between Xbox 360 and the Dreamcast
23 eerie parallels between Xbox 360 and the Sega Dreamcast - an amusing take on the possible future of the xBox. Number 13 made me laugh. Followed up on page 2 by some opposing points to balance the argument but it's quite amusing.
Experimental Gameplay – part 2
Earlier this year I mentioned the experimental gamplay website. The site is run by a university and the next years students are now creating their own games.
As an added bonus you can now submit your own games, provided you follow their rules of course.
I haven't had a chance to try any of them yet, but will be sure to play them soon.

1up.com have just had a Shadow of the Collosus week, showing off some various things to do with the game in the run up to it's release later this year (Q1 2006 in the UK).

Sights & Sounds of Shadow - The art and music of Shadow of the Colossus. Warp Speed Ahead - Interview with Fumitu ...Worst Game Development Competition – Ever!
Wow - what a sack of crap.
There have been a number of game development competitions recently but this new one from Studica has to be the worst ever. First Prize is $500, 2nd $200, and 3rd place nets you $100. Not much of a prize when you consider how long a decent game takes to make but that's not the worst of it. The really bad thing is that you have to buy Virtools before you ...
Bubble Blitz Review
WooHoo - the first review of Bubble Blitz is in and it's really good. I wasn't expecting reviewers to actually say the game is good because of the unoriginality so it's nice to get an email about something like this when I get into work.
I've submitted the game to a few other games review sites so hopefully there will be some more Bubble Blitz reviews in the not too distant future.
