Big Buck Bunny
Big Buck Bunny tells the story of a giant rabbit with a heart bigger than himself. When one sunny day three rodents rudely harass him, something snaps… and the rabbit ain’t no bunny anymore! In the typical cartoon tradition he prepares the nasty rodents a comical revenge.
Big Buck Bunny is an animation, created in Blender – an open source 3d art program. I tried Blender many moons ago and it was painful to use. I suspect that’s because I ...
Wall-E in real life
Found a video of Wall-E on Electroplankton and am loving it. This has to be the best marketing campaign ever.
Oh – and case you’ve missed it. Wall-E is the latest, soon to be hit, movie from the ridiculously clever folks at Pixar.
Star Wars Animated series
My Starwars loving side has got plenty to be happy about at the moment – the Clone Wars 3d cartoons are on their way!
I absolutely adored the 2d versions (in particular the superior 2nd series) and this trailer looks like it will ignite my passion for Starwars once more… if it hasn’t already.
According to the BBC the animated Clone Wars will kick off with a movie length version later this year, and then continue with a tv series. ...
Fun with Physics
There have been a couple of very cool physics toys released recently and since they’re fun to play with and free (and I like this sort of thing) I thought I’d give them a mention.
Phun with PhysicsThe first was a couple of weeks ago and is called Phun with Physics. It’s a wonderful free toy where you can build your own contraptions from the physics object and then release them into the world to interact with each other. You ...
Speed Racer
Speed Racer is a cartoon from my childhood that I have distant memories of. My memories of the show are that it was one of the best toons ever.
It’s now been turned into a feature film by the Wachowskis. I love the Matrix, V for Vendetta, and Bound and based solely upon this trailer, I think I’ll love Speed Racer too. The trailer captures the super frenetic pace of the cartoon perfectly – it really is a ...
Robot Fighting
A bit of something different for the weekend – robots beating each other up. The future is now!
Spoilers…I love that the tiny robot beats the big one – bigger isn’t always better The moves they pull off are pretty cool too. I just hope they don’t start giving these things pointy weapons and artificial intelligence, else it’ll be the start of the ...
Minority Report a reality?
Q. What do you get if you cross a Nintendo Wii, with an LED array? A. A scene from Minority Report… in your own home.
There’s not much to write about here – it’s all explained in the video below.
I would love to have something like this on the Wii for real. I’m surprised they managed to get two points, multi input, working as well. I’d have thought that ...
Scientists, Tesla coils, and Super Mario
This is a major geek out but it combines science and video games. I have no idea how they did this buy I am incredibly impressed.
Thanks to Tranism from Electroplankton for the heads up.
