This weekend just gone I went to see Damien Rice at the Brighton Dome. The trip was actually a birthday present from my girlfriend and, my birthday being in April, meant I had plenty of time to look forward to it.
My musical tastes are very varied. I tend towards rock music but like anything powerful, I’m also a closet fan of stage shows and musicals. I love theatrical style music, so Damien Rice was a perfect fit. The fact I have 3 of his albums helps (O, 9, and B Sides). Jo likes him too.
Jo had booked us seats slap bang in the middle so we to a wonderful view (which you can’t really tell from the photo… but the colours fit the site nicely
). The stalls downstairs were unreserved and most people had to stand so I’m really glad we got the seats we did. …

As I have mentioned a couple of times now I was recently invited to a press screening for the new film Ratatouille.
Initially I was sceptical, but I decided I’d regret it if I didn’t at least try - and I love Pixar films, so I had to say yes.
The screening was at a hotel in Soho, London, so I turned up with a friend from work and went in. Initial impressions were great. The hotel was very posh and there were also free drinks and nibbles going around. I was worried I was under dressed (jeans and a tshirt as normal) but slowly others turned up wearing similar clothes.
When I found out the venue was a hotel I had images of us sitting in a meeting room with a projector and a white board watching a dodgy copy of the film with terrible audio. I couldn’t have been more wrong. …
Shimon Sandler contacted me recently asking me to do a paid review of his SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) Consultancy blog. I haven’t used his services so will be reviewing his website and my opinion of the content on his site. I am not an SEO expert (although I like to think I do ok) so hopefully I will learn a thing or two from browsing his site.
Design
The design of Shimon site is nice enough, but nothing particularly special, however for its purpose it is more than functional. Personally I would reduce the amount of borders around things since they seem to segregate the content, and I would possibly make the main navigation more prominent. Personally I would remove the extraneous sidebar stuff as well, for example I would remove the “my blog is worth x amount of dollars” thing, it has nothing to do with SEO and clutters the …
I love the Spiderman movies. I’ve seen all three at the cinema, and own the first two on DVD - I am officially a fan. So, last weekend, I went with my girlfriend to watch the latest in the series and thought it was very cool indeed.
There are spoilers ahead so keep away if you’re worried about that sort of thing.
Spiderman 3 follows on where the second left off, with Harry Osbourne upset at Peter Parker for killing his father, Mary Jane going out with Peter, and Peter saving the day as Spidey. Things in the film happen at a crazy pace. Uncle Ben’s “real” murdered has been found and he has just escaped from prison, and some black gunk has fallen from the sky and seems to be hunting down Peter.
There is absolutely loads going on, I wonder if it’s too much, but it’s pretty easy to follow …
This is rather late now but I really wanted to say something. I mentioned before that I had seen the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film (actually called TMNT) and I’m pleased to say it was absolutely great.
I went to see the film on a weekday, and it was mostly younger children in the audience. I went with my girlfriend who very kindly puts up with my childish tendencies. I loved the film but she was very clearly bored - so Jo - thanks for putting up with me, and sorry for taking you to see the film.
The story itself picks up a few years after the Ninja Turtles movies, cartoons and everything else. Shredder has been removed, and the turtles are now at a loose end. They are all doing different things to pass the time but mostly they have simply lost their way. Then some evil …
I haven’t done any reviews in a while, then today I got asked to do one for GameGum a Flash gaming website (this is a paid review). It’s nice to get some games related reviews to do so I had to say yes.
Competition
Currently GameGum are running a referral contest in which you can potentially win $100 and 1000 GameGum points (more on those in a bit) - with a total of $250 worth of prizes. I am now wondering if I could win the contest by getting people to sign up. I guess I’ll find out in a couple of weeks
About Game Gum
GameGum is a site that let’s you play a vast array of Flash (browser based) games. However where it differs from sites like Miniclip (where I work) is that it also let’s you submit your own games, rate other people games, and post comment …
