  1. your theme Regulus is fabulous! I have tried 15 different ones over the past 2 weeks and I keep coming back to yours. That being said, I would like to change a few simple things (font styles, colors). I have tried to change these in the styles.css in the theme editor, but it does not seem to work. Obviously I am a total newbie to css/php (any kind of coding) so if this is not the right place to ask this question, could you please point me in the right direction?

  2. Awesome, I love regulus too and use a wide version of it on my primary site (most WP themes are too narrow for my taste anyway) and was excited to read about the widgets. I’m more excited now that they’ll work with regulus. If I want to support your WP work with a couple of $ do you have a donate button laying around so that you know people appreciate what you’ve done?

  3. Patrick – Thanks for the kind words.

    To edit the fonts you need to look in styles.css. Right at the top is this

    * {
    margin:0; padding: 0; border: 0;
    font:1em 'Lucida Grande', 'Lucida Sans Unicode', Verdana, Sans-Serif;

    That is the only place that sets the font used, so you should try changing the value in there and that should changes things across the site.

    Thad – Cheers πŸ™‚ I’ve put a few options for donations on the regulus page so you can check things out there.

  4. Hi there

    I too love Regulus. I’ve tried a couple of other themes and none look quite as clean or as beautiful. I don’t kow if this is the correct place to ask questions, but is there a limited amount of space in which to show categories? I have built a list of contributors, (whose posts also appear in other categories) but of the 6 or so categories I have created, only three show on the blog.

  5. Not really the proper place but it will do πŸ™‚

    This is probably a wordpress problem. If you have a category that has no posts in then it will not be displayed (and here’s the important bit) even if it has sub categories that DO have posts in.

    The theme itself displays all of the categories that it can.

  6. Hello again Ben – today, all names on my list show and the blog now looks very (even more) professional!

  7. That would be awesome: Regulus with widgets. I’m now checking this site daily to see if Regulus 2.1 is already released (feeds are not my thing).
    Great stuff, Ben!

  8. Maire – gald it’s working now

    Guido – to save you some checking, I would like to have it finished some time this weekend, but I can’t promise anything.

  9. To be dramatic, but truthful, Regulus made my heart skip when I applied it on wp.com. Stunning.
    Then I realized those silly widgets I’ve been customizing all up for the last few weeks weren’t available and my heart tripped and fell into dismay. But now I find this post of yours and my head spins with delight.
    And that is altogether enough of that sorta talk. Looking forward to your updates. Thanks.

  10. Just a note to say I am continuing to use Regulus – the first theme I tried and I’m very happy with it, so thanks for letting it out into the wild. I will keep checking back here for the updated version – will it only contain support for widgets or will it have any other tweaks?

    I also wanted to ask, will upgrading be relatively easy? I am worried about the possibility of mangling my customisations and sidebar additions. Would I be right to assume that if I leave my stylesheet intact when uploading the new files, I will be okay? Or will you be including any changes which I will need to add into it?

  11. ian – wow! thanks πŸ™‚

    Andy – there are quite a few things that have been added/ changed/ tweaked. I hope to get the next version out either today or tomorrow so you should be able to see it all working then πŸ™‚

    Unfortunately I haven’t catered for people who modify the theme in any way. I didn’t even consider keeping track of what has changed, so updating won’t be straight forward I’m afraid.

    Looking at your site all the major changes are in the sidebar, and using the widgets you can now add whatever you like to this section without modifying the theme code. This will make future updates a lot easier.

    For now you can view the test site

  13. Thanks Ben! I will report back here on how it goes and if I need help, will come sobbing and begging for you as theme creator to dispense a little mercy and help out if you’ve time! πŸ™‚

  14. In case anyone has missed it the new version of Regulus – including the elusive widgets – has now been released.

  15. My wife and I both love your theme. We’ve kept changing from theme to theme, but instead we always somehow end up on yours again. Although there are a few things we wouldn’t mind seeing added to it still, that is the recent comments and ‘filed under “category” ‘ I know these can be added in css, but using wordpress.com we aren’t able to do so.

    Cheers, keep up the good word lad.
