I mentioned Ratatouille, the new Pixar movie, a month or two ago and I’m still looking forward to it coming out. I fact I got an email from someone recently inviting me to a press screening of the movie so it looks like I may get to see it early… yay for me 🙂
I figured I’d look Ratatouille up and see what there is about it online and it turns out there is a YouTube user, clearly set up by the advertisers, who is posting a whole bunch of videos about the development of the movie – and there’s some really cool stuff on there. I love the whole “how we made…” and “behind the scenes” books and dvd extras so seeing this sort of thing online before the film is even released is great. I hope more movies do this sort of thing in the future. Having studied 3d art and animation at university the development of 3d films like Ratatouille is of even more interest to me.
I love that they’re doing much more with human characters. What they started with the Incredibles was great, and it is clearly evolving with Ratatouille.
Of the clips I’ve watched so far this is my favorite…
Although I no longer use it, I used Lightwave for a good 4-5 years, and was pretty big into the whole 3d world during that time. Having a background in 3d modeling/animation really makes me appreciate these films even more. I saw this a few days ago, and was just blown away yet again. Beyond the eye candy, the story was pretty good, and I caught myself loudly cracking up atleast twice.. bravo Pixar.
