Ben is a lifelong Nintendo fan who likes to build websites, and make video games. He buys way too much Lego.
I have recently been contacted by a representative of Huawei, a Chinese technology company, about their latest initiative – a competition to help re-imagine the icons, wallpaper and back cover for their latest device, the Honor 6.
The Honor 6 is a budget Android phone that, based on a quick Google search, seems to have been reviewed quite well, and they’ve offered to send me one so that I can see how it performs. I plan to write a review once I get it.
I find the idea of the competition intriguing. iOS 8 received a lot of criticism for it’s inconsistent design and had many people reimagine elements of it’s layout – and so this is a chance for those same people to really show what they are capable of, offering the chance for their work to be seen on thousands of phones worldwide.
If you’re a designer and want to enter then the top prize is £3000 cash, plus a phone, and not to mention your design being used on the phones of many users around the world. The final submission date is April 30th so you have a couple of months to get your designs in but if you’re interested then I wouldn’t leave it too late!
