The last couple of months I have been spending my free time working on a new website and premium theme.
The website is called Pro Theme Design, and the theme is Mimbo Pro.
Pro Theme Design is a WordPress theme blog and premium theme store. You will be able to purchase premium themes and read tips on developing themes all in one spot. Yes, there’s paid stuff but I also intend to give away freebies, for example I have also created an icon set, which I will be distributing via Pro Theme Design.
At the start of the year I knew I would be making the Pro Theme Design website, and I thought it would be cool to work with other developers on the themes. The first person I thought to contact was Darren Hoyt, the developer of incredibly successful Mimbo.
We have been working together to develop the theme ever since I got back from California, adding features never before used in a WordPress theme. The initial theme design was completed in a matter of weeks, but the following month or so was spent tweaking, tidying, and polishing until we were both happy. We think the theme is awesome, and well worth the small amount of money we’re asking for it.
My work was mostly back end and programming, sorting out the control panel options and adding new features to make things more dynamic. Darren did all design duties, and then I got the Pro Theme website, and forum up and running. I even went as far as getting a VPS (Virtual Private Server) to speed things up and take some of the strain off of my overburdened Dreamhost account. When I get a chance I will be transitioning my other sites over to the VPS as well.
If you’re interested in a quality WordPress theme then you can read more about it here, view the live Mimbo Pro demo, and buy it now.
BTW If anybody is interested in making some pocket money we have an affiliate scheme in place.
Wow, the attention to detail is inspiring. We’ve got some big ideas for the Blogtrepreneur design (only design I’m working on atm) and seeing the way you’ve set up every page with care, especially the author’s pages and the categories, really makes me want to make an awesome theme like that.
I’ve never been a fan of magazine style themes, but that is on another level. Great job. If I ever have a use for a theme like this I’ll definitely pick this up.
Hey Connor – thanks for the kind comments π The response seems quite positive so far. Hopefully we’ll make some decent pocket money out of it.
I agree with Connor, that sort of intricacy is not exactly common place in WordPress themes, so nice work mate π Hope you enjoyed you’re holiday too btw π
Luke – thanks a lot π Hope you enjoyed your time off as well.
I currently use Mimbo 2.2 and I absolutely love it. I would buy Mimbo Pro, but it’s definitely out of my price range.
Great work though; Mimbo Pro looks amazing.
I use Mimbo 2.2 as well – nice piece of soft, don’t you think? Also sometimes I have been using wordpress – It’s defninitelly easier to tame, at least in my opinion.
Looks superb, Ben, and has me contemplating using it.
Jason – we’re currently considering ways people can get the theme for free/ cheaper. If we go ahead with them then I’ll post about them here.
Tartan – Mimbo 2 is very nice, yeah. Hopefully Mimbo Pro is an even bigger step up π
David – thanks a lot. Would be cool if you did π
I just wanted to let you know that IΓ’β¬β’ve added the Mimbo Pro theme to the list at http://www.bestwpthemes.com. ItΓ’β¬β’s a fantastic addition to the world of premium themes and I love the history of the theme, in that it basically started out as a mock-up for a tutorial.
