Regulus 2.2 – now with translations

As mentioned a couple of weeks ago I have been workng on an update to Regulus. There are only a couple of small changes to the main Regulus file. The big change is the addition of translations.

Other changes

There have been a couple of other changes. A few css fixes thanks to Alwi and the inclusion of support for the gravatar plugin which you can grab from

What now!

I have said it before, but this time I think I mean it (I hope). Regulus is now feature complete. There will be no more Regulus updates unless there are any major bugs to be fixed. I will however add new translations if any are sent to me. I want to work on other projects (a new theme?) so Regulus is now done.

Thanks for all the support I have been given. It’s nice to see so many people using Regulus, it’s grown far larger than I ever imagined it would.

  1. Is it just me, or does any text immediately following a blockquote section get made all bold? What would be causing this?

  2. Ben: awesome theme. Beautiful and easy to work with. One question, though (and I don’t mean to seem at all unappreciative of your efforts): any chance that the theme you use on this site will be made available to the general public? (If there’s a FAQ where that question is answered, just tell me and I’ll head there.) If you decide this is off-topic, feel free to delete it. (It’s my first time posting — I think — so It’ll be caught in the queue — I hope.)

  3. I’m happy to see other people translating Regulus now, so it was worth the time to update the code and hand it over to Ben.

If you find any missed strings, you can find my email address in the default.pot-file…

  4. Check out the post here:

The paragraph directly below the quoted text is in bold, in FF 2.0. I’ve noticed the same in other posts, too.

Also, did something change in the comments system with this version? I have users that are reporting that instead of the comments form (with name, email address, etc.) it is saying they are “logged in”, and it is acting strange. I’m going to check the WP groups, too, but I don’t remember anything changing other than upgrading the theme.

Otherwise, I love this theme – it’s truly awesome. Keep up the great work!

  5. Hi Ben,
I’ve used the theme for some time now, and it’s great. I’ve made some modifications to my needs, and translated it.
I’m running a Danish site about webstandards, though I barely have the time to write articles.

Where do I get the .po file, so I’m able to translate it?

    Nice work with Regulus…

  6. I sent a comment to that they should add the new version to (since I want to use my own translation to Swedish!).

Some guy answered and said he had delegated it to some other guy. Let’s see if this other guy pulls it off.

And I hope Ben doesn’t mind my interfering.

  7. Hi, will it be possible to have more color themes for Regulus? Something along the darker hues? I noticed most of the themese were like pastels. 🙂

    Just asking. Thanks.

  8. I’m having strange problem with comments at my site, running the newest WordPress (2.0.5) and tuned version of Regulus theme.

I allow everyone to post a comment (no registration required) but whenever user posts a comment, WordPress displays following message:

“Doh! Something has gone wrong, the page you’re looking for can’t be found.

Hopefully one of the options below will help you

You can search the site using the search box to the right
    You could visit the homepage
Or you could have a look through the recent posts listed below, maybe what you’re looking for is there……”

This is very strange because, even the error message is displayed, the comment is succesfully posted!!!

At first I thought it’s the issue with “Recent comments” plugin. But I’ve deactivated it, cleared my cache and still did not solve the problem.

The other strange thing is that whenever the user wants to change his current user name, WordPress displays message “Sorry, no posts found matching Your criteria”. So the only way to change username is to clear the browser cookies!!!

Please help me guys. This is very confusing… Thanks much in advance.

ps. when Default theme activated, the problem is gone! and this makes me very sad

  9. Ralph – it was definitly worth the time. Thanks for helping out 🙂

Gnorb – I want to keep the Binary Moon private. I am afraid I have no intention of releasing it as a theme. Sorry.

Pete – I haven’t got a clue why that happens – in fact on my computer it doesn’t…

Jim – I did take a look at that bug but could see no way to fix it I’m afraid. I can see that it would be annoying though so will ask around to see if there is a fix – can’t promise anything though.

Gudi – Glad you found what you needed 🙂

Sven – I don’t mind you interfering at all 🙂 Let’s see if they implement it on

Benj – there’s no plans for extra colour schemes in Regulus. If you want to add more then it’s relatively easy to do yourself… assuming you have access to the css files.

Wojtek – I have answered you via email. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help 🙁

    mpof2006 – no problem 🙂

  12. one qn: gravatar is currently on hold for now… what happens if its going to be down forever? will you integrate another similar service into the theme. FYI, I use your theme and like it…

  13. Naturally I add support for Gravatars and the service dies a death. I did look at other options but didn’t find anything else that is as easy to integrate. Maybe I will add favatars as well. If you know of anything similar let me know and I will take a look.

  15. Thanks for the very nice theme for WordPress. One little problem I found: If I want to display the numbers of posts in every category the number is displayed always on a new line instead after the name of the category – how to change this?

    Thanks again.

  16. I love this wordpress theme.. all except for one problem. I cannot get it to show my “Tag Cloud” like a cloud. It only displays it as a straight vertical line on the page, but works perfectly with other themes. Any Idea how I can get this to work?

  17. Ben, congrats for this great template! I’ve been using for a week now and I’m really enjoying. Can I interest you into a Brazilian Portuguese translation for Regulus? I could help you with that. Let me know what do you think, ok?
    Thanks in advance!

  18. Sorry, Ben, I’ve missed the “Regulus WordPress Theme in your language” post. I’ll start the Brazilian Portuguese translation and mail it to you when I’m done. Is that ok? It seems to me that you’re not going to release a new version of Regulus :P. Let me know so I don’t waste my time, ok? Thanks!
